My Shelter

Today the pressure is pretty high on a couple things (work in particular). I just happened to listen to (or was guided?) to two great worship songs this morning that remind me not to let that pressure change my outlook. (I've put both songs below to share)

The first song is one Becky sang a while back..."He has made me glad". It's a perfect reminder that I am not in control, that I don't need to be in control, and that my Lord is my help!

That then reminded me of this:

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

The second song is a powerful song about the cry from our depths ("From the inside out"). We were made to love and be loved by our creator. May my soul embrace its creator, and author!

Great post, Eric. I've known that first song for a long time, but you reminded me of it and I really listened to the words again. I love how some worship tunes, especially those like this one that have lines directly from Scripture, are so refreshing, renewing and calming. We'll say a prayer for your pressure-filled day!

Thanks for the post Eric. It was a good reminder for me too. It's so easy to get caught up in the stress and worry of things and forget the truth of that Psalm. How great that we have songs like the ones you posted to remind us of those things. Thanks again and hope you guys have a great trip tomorrow. Say hi to the 'bago for me. :)
